Never give up

4/1/11
April
Cancelled work to go to Shriners.
Went to see the Orthotist from Shriners.
Left feeling like I wanted to roll up in a ball of tears and hide.
It was a difficult day, kind of like a scratched record, just skipping over and over again at the same place.
Jewel's hips are causing a lot of pain, and she is fixated on it, oh how hard it is to move forward from this place.
I hope we do not end up in the emergency room.
She is uncomfortable in every position.
Jewel stayed up, and could not get relief or rest.
:(
Her brace did not give relief.
Calm water did not work.
4/2/11
Another hard day, more of the same never ending crazy.
Finally Raven and I sat down to talk to Jewel, appealing to her intellect.
"Jewel you are loved, we love you, life is difficult at times, but try your best always, never give up, use your words, do not be hard on yourself, breath,......... and on an on we cheered."
We decided to take her to the horses, hard drive full of tears and complaints.
We groomed and walked Cookie Dough and put the bareback pad on, and mounted Jewel on.
Raven led the horse and I was the side walker, Jewel far superseded our expectations.
She was doing so well at about 30-45 degree angle.
Then she tired out and we put her facing his rear and she did fabulous!!
Cheers for Cookie Dough and Jewel :))
Jewel rode for 24 minutes and did 24 sit-ups on Cookie Dough.
We watched the horses and goats and it was very calming and beautiful!
Raven struggled to keep her in a nice sitting posture, her neck was over-extending in a horrible posture.
The car ride home was tolerable.
Then the mantra began, "owie leggie". It is enough to make you want to run into the ocean screaming, because we have not been able to settle her. Then we gave her a hot bath with Epson salts, thanks for reminding me to do this Cheri. Feed her lots of rice and meat to ground her. Put in a call to the massage therapist, he will try to see her bright and early on monday. He said keep giving her lots of liquids and to put a heating pad on her tummy and sacrum, since we have no heating pad or hot water bottle, we made to rice socks; filled the socks with rice and loosely knotted them up, two drops of lavender oil and 30 seconds in the microwave and voila, Jewel has heating pads. Every little drop of love, prayer and help is not in vain. Finally the girls and I, all just started to joke and get absolutely silly, laughing through dinner. This distracted Jewel's mind enough to settle her down a bit more. She is sleeping now and we are all praying that it will be a long, deep and restful sleep for all of us!
